Tribute to Gerardo Guevara

On September 30th, the university's branch campus in Guayaquil paid tribute to Gerardo Guevara, a composer, pianist and orchestra director. The aim was to commemorate the work of this artist who set milestone in Ecuadorian music.

Guevara gives Ecuadorian music a universal nature. "This type of interaction through music is good for everyone", he said.

The following national and international musicians attended the event: Andrés Córdova, Fabián González, Diego Zamora, María Augusta Jibaja, Karen Bohórquez, Santiago, the UPS choir, Ruth Díaz, Claudina Layana, the Gerardo Guevara choir group, and the pianist Ekaterina Poukhiria.

These musician performed the following songs: "Quito Arrabal del cielo, Despedida, Apamuy Shungo, Me recordarás en el Agua, Yaraví, Espantapájaros, La toronja y el limón, Hasta la guitarra llora, Se va con algo mío, Solsticio"

The university awarded Gerardo Guevara a special recognition during the tribute.
