The communication major in Univesidad Politécnica Salesiana's branch in Guayaquil held a conference titled " Ecuadorian journalism in debate" which was led by Marin Oller Alonso, PhD, a Spanish researcher part of SENESCYT's Prometeo program.

The aim of this event was to analyze scientific production and the work carried out in the field of social communication. "We will continue holding conferences and workshops to show students the reality of this profession", said Katiuska Flores, director of the communication faculty in Guayaquil. 

The conference generated a critical conversation among students about their perspectives on communication in Ecuador. "The results have shown a polarized culture of journalism where the role of professionals is controlled by current regulations. However, there is a great difference between what a journalist, the media system and the context perceives", said professor Oller.
