From the 15th to the 17th of June, the university's branch in Guayaquil held a workshop on journalistic writing for students who are members of the university's salesian group UTOPIA.

The objectives of the workshop were that students learn how to write more precisely in order to save time and words when writing the news and thus making it easier to find information. The aim is that students become editors of their own writing and optimize journalistic work in the university. "We want to reinforce and update knowledge of the members of this group" said Cesar Andrade, director of the UTOPIA group in Guayaquil.

The workshop was led by Carlos Ivan Yanez who has over 38 years' experience in journalism in the field of politics, economy, science, technology and society, both on the radio and TV.

Some of the topics in the workshop were: "The structure of the news", "The news report: an array of technical options", "Interviews", "The media", "Chronicles" and more. For Carlos Yanez the topics are a very important process for updating people's knowledge. "These students write for a university magazine that communicates social topics and therefore they should write well", he said.
