New graduation ceremony in Quito

On February 16th, in the university's branch campus in Quito, there was yet another graduation ceremony for 115 students who successfully ended their studies in: business administration, accounting and auditing, communication, psychology, anthropology, pedagogy, management for local sustainable development, intercultural education, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

The ceremony was held in the coliseum in the "El Giron" campus, it was presided by Father Fransisco Sanchez, Inspector of Salesians in Ecuador and UPS Chancellor; Jose Juncosa, vice president of the university's branch in Quito; Patricio Benavides, academic coordinator.

 Jose Juncosa said: "We feel proud of you, just like you should feel proud of UPS, which has changed so much since its beginnings". He also asked them not to forget about the Salesian values they have learnt, such as "kindness, familiarity, don't forget go be good Christians and honest citizens whose greatest value is common good."

Grace Moreano, said: "A university degree not only certifies academic education, it represents a life commitment that people assume in order work ethically and responsibly according to what the work environment demands.

Father Sanchez told professionals that in their hearts there should always be: "a vocation of service as the most important value of becoming a professional, have empathy, to match knowledge with the heart; that without these they will no longer be salesians."

Viviana Calderon had the best grade point average of this class and therefore spoke on behalf of all the graduates. She thanked everyone who make up the university and said: "before it was the university that evaluated us, now it will be society in charge of following our paths as professionals and people; what differentiates us is professional ethics."

During the ceremony, Lorena Daga, Daniela Moreno, Ana Cevallos, Alejandro Pérez and Yessenia Guevara were given recognition awards for having developed skills in social responsability, inclusion, leadership and communication during their years at the university.
