UPS president Javier Herran first welcomed attendees and invited them to enjoy a great performance full of music and romanticism, which was dedicated specially to all the women who work in the university.  Some of the songs they played and sang were: Noches de boca grande, Regresa, Nuestro secreto, El reloj, El aguacate, Guitarra Vieja, Ñatita bonita.

This band was created in the university in 2009 and it is made up by UPS professors and workers as well as other artists from the south of Ecuador. The members are:

•    Juan Carlos Sánchez: First voice and percussionist

•    Gilberto Brito: Bass and choir

•    Pedro Webster: Bandoneon, guitar, charango.

•    René Martínez: Requinto and third voice

•    Vicente Martínez: guitar and second voice

•    Ivan Mora: Percussionist

"We are fascinated by people's attendance and participation, and happy because there are young people who really appreciate many songs of our national repertoire (pasillos, albazos, aire tipico) and latin American music such as boleros and vals. Maybe they don't sing the songs following its basic rhythm, but they sing them", he said.
