The paper titled "A review on data-driven fault severity assessment in rolling bearings" written by the university's Industrial Technologies Research and Development Group (GIDTEC for its acronym in Spanish. Grupo de Investigación y Desarrollo en Tecnologías Industriales (GIDTEC) and published in the Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing Journal, has become the most downloaded paper of the digital platform Elsevier Science during the last 90 days.

The journal is located in the Q1 quartile of the Scientific Journal Ranking (SJR), with an impact factor of 4,874, and is one of the most important in the area of engineering.

The research refers to the use of techniques that can be implemented in the industrial sector, therefore GIDTEC is coordinating its implementation with various companies and local industries in order to contribute to the increase and optimization of productivity in the country.

In the year 2016, the scientific work titled  "Fault diagnosis in spur gears based on genetic algorithm and random forest" and "Gearbox fault diagnosis based on deep random forest fusion of acoustic and vibratory signals" which were written by the same research group, were among the most downloaded articles of the same journal (Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing). This demonstrates the interest of the international community in the research carried out at UPS.
