750 children and adolescents from the "Chicos de la Calle" Foundation gathered in the university's "El Giron" campus with their families to receive a backpack with school supplies for the 2017 – 2018 school year.

The ceremony was attended by Father Maffeo Panteghini, Father Jose Ruiz, director of the Foundation, Edgar Tello, acting vice president of UPS's branch campus in Quito, Franklin Pino, from the Ministry of Social and Economic Inclusion, and UPS staff.

The beneficiaries are part of the foundation's programs: Talleres - Escuela San Patricio (TESPA), Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional San Patricio (UESPA), el Programa Acción Guambras (Amazonas, La Marín, Iñaquito, Mi patio, La Mariscal, Domingo Savio y Don Bosco) and Mi Caleta.

Dr. Tello gave a welcome speech and Father Ruiz told children to be more responsible and better students. They also spoke about how Don Bosco seeked to educate good Christians and honest citizens. Father Maffeo Panteghini thanked all those who work on these projects every single day, especially teachers who kindly provide their support to those who need it the most.

Benjamin Pinto was in charge of giving a report of the 2016-2017 school year, he pointed out that 711 out of 840 students successfully passed. 

The Salesian Foundation "Chicos de la Calle" is a Salesian educational community that, through the preventive pedagogy of Don Bosco, promotes and works in the integral development of children and adolescents and their families in situations of vulnerability, especially in street situations, to support their inclusion in society.
