By means of a resolution established in 2016, the Interinstitutional Committee of the National System of Qualifications and Professional Training (SETEC for its acronym in Spanish) recognizes Universidad Politécnica Salesiana as an Assessing Body for the Certification of People (OEC for its acronym in Spanish).

This recognition allows UPS to accredit the continuing education courses offered to society in different professional fields.

Each university branch campus (Cuenca, Guayaquil and Quito) has set up a competency certification committee, in which the head of continuing education acts as a certification and control analyst, while the technical director is the supervisor of the process. The entire process is coordinated by the Community Involvement department, which is responsible for certification and control.

For Bernardo Salgado, Head of Community Involvement at the university, this type of recognition "allows UPS to be an organization that issues certificates endorsed by SETEC in the different projects or continuing education events that the University has. "This way, the university contributes to the training of professionals in the country in different areas
