Several entrepreneurship projects were carried out as part of the university's Business Consulting Program (PAE for its acronym in Spanish) in benefit of public and private institutions.

UPS's branch campus in Cuenca held a closing ceremony for the first part of this program which began in July. During the ceremony, they certified the pre professional activities of the first group of students who carried out 84 entrepreneurship projects in favor of people who requested the services of the PAE.

Students presented the projects and said they were pleased for having helped people who needed some business advice.

The program was created in order provide free consulting services to entrepreneurs, micro businesses and the overall public in order to start their businesses, projects and business ideas.

To participate in the project, students were trained to reinforce the skills needed for counseling thanks to the inter-institutional support of public bodies such as the Ministry of Industry and Productivity (MIPRO), National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE), Internal Revenue Service of Ecuador (IRS), Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy among others, as well as the support of the teachers.

The coordinator of the program, Ana Julia Vega, reported that in the following months the counseling services will continue with a new group of students and new activities that will include workshops on entrepreneurship, innovation and development of new services.

The ceremony was attended by: Fr. Javier Herrán, UPS president; Cesar Vasquez, vice president of UPS's branch campus in Cuenca; María Fernanda Guevara Segarra, director of the Business Administration undergraduate program; Edgar Gordillo, director of PACES Foundation; Father Juan Cárdenas, director of the Salesian Community of Yanuncay.
