Universidad Politecnica Salesiana took part in the 39th session of the Unesco General Conference held in Pairs, France. During this session, they celebrated the 25th anniversary of the programs UNITWIN and UNESCO chairs program. 
 
The General Conference is made up by the representatives of the Member States of UNESCO and is held every two years. Member and Associate Member States participate in the event, as well as observers from non-member States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations.
 
UPS, represented by Fernando Pesántez, the academic vice president and Director of the UNESCO Chairs program to Support Technologies for Educational Inclusion (UPS), gave Peter Wells, the Head of the Section "Higher Education of UNESCO Chairs", a Robotic prototype for learning Braille reading and writing.
 
At the conference, Pesántez presented a synthesis of the achievements and proposals that the UNESCO Chairs program coordinated by UPS has with reference to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Currently, the program works in areas such as: ICTs and intelligent systems for educational inclusion of children and youth with disabilities; scientific dissemination and open access technologies; rescue of cultural values in native populations.
 
To contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, the Chair plans to carry out some actions in the short term:
 
- An incubator of research projects in educational inclusion for the level of secondary education.
 
- Intelligent systems for the promotion of the labor and educational insertion of people with disabilities.
 
- Adolescence and research: magazine on solidarity science.
 
- Consolidation of the "Science classroom for children" program
 
- Support technologies for medical and hospital management of vulnerable populations: educational - preventive approach.
 
After his participation in France, the Vice Chancellor of the UPS was invited by the School of Industrial Organization (OEI) of Spain to finalize the work carried out with the curricular axes of the "Neuro-Psychopedagogy" program.
 
This initiative will be executed by the UPS as a continuous training program, with the aim of strengthening the understanding of teaching and learning processes throughout its academic body. The program will start in January 2018 and in its first phase will have as a training public 180 teachers from the three university campuses.
 
After his participation in France, Fernando Pesantez was invited by the School of Industrial Organization (OEI) of Spain to finalize the work carried out with the "Neuro-Psychopedagogy" program.
 
This initiative will be carried out by UPS as a continuing education program, with the aim of strengthening the understanding of teaching and learning processes throughout its academic body. The program will begin in January 2018 and will have 180 professors from the three university campuses during its first phase.
