The Coworking StartUPS office in the university's branch campus in Guayaquil hosted the "Global Game Jam 2018" (GGJ), which brought together videogame fans so they can create innovative ideas.

The event was held from the 26th to the 28th of January, participants had to create videogames in 48 hours and therefore they were divided into different categories: game designers, programmers, artists, producers and spectators.

"The aim of this activity is that participants' ideas and projects become a reality in the virtual world", said UPS student Axi Orellana, organizer of the event.

In the event there were also talks:

- The evolution of videogames

- Tips to create videogames

- Types of roles

This year the central theme of the GGJ was "Transmission" allowing participants to expand their imagination regarding the transfer of a message. "The Glabal Jam is not a competition, it is an event that allows people to share knowledge and thus contribute from their various roles to the creation of a video game," said Orellana.

Participants had to present a personal profile to facilitate the division of work teams; once this activity was carried out, they were organized in teams of five for the creation of their prototype. "These events help to exchange ideas with people from different areas and give innovative proposals for the development of video games," said Javier Sáenz, special guest of the GGJ.
