What is man? This question is the starting point from which Professor Vicente Plasencia begins his reflection on human beings in his book "Ser Humano: Un proyecto inconcluso" ("Human beings: An unfinished project.") Reflections on Anthropology, a book published by the university publishing house ABYA YALA-UPS.

During the presentation of the book held at the university's branch campus in Quito, Fr. Jaime Chela and Eduardo Paucar, coordinators of the Pastoral department, commented that "it is an invitation to search for the human being, since each one of us are an unfathomable mystery that cannot be explained in definitive terms. "

José Juncosa, Vice president of the university's branch campus in Quito, said that "the book is focused on the anthropological-philosophical-theological field and part of various sociocultural positions to get to understand the human being in its integrity and transcendentality."

Plasencia says the book seeks reasons to understand that we build and deconstruct our history. "This anthropology speaks about this responsibility," he said. "The attempt to approach an answer leads us to remain alert in its process, historically contextualized, of humanization," the author said.
