Jorge Fajardo Seminario and Luis Eduardo Garzón, Mechanical Engineering professors and researchers from UPS- Cuenca and members of the New Materials and Transformation Processes Research Group (GiMaT), participated in the 5th International Conference on Advanced Materials and Systems - ICAMS 2014 in Bucharest – Romania, where researchers from 22 countries discussed significant issues regarding Advanced Materials.

After the peer review, the two papers that were accepted were: "CHARACTERIZATION OF THE STATE PLANAR ORIENTATION FOR SHORT NATURAL FIBER IN POLYMERIC COMPOSITES BY MEANS OF ORIENTATION TENSOR" written by Jorge Fajardo Seminario; and "A NEW NATURAL FIBER: TOQUILLLA STRAW AS POTENTIAL REINFORCEMENT IN THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER COMPOSITES" written by Luis Eduardo Garzón. 

Participants showed great interest in the two abovementioned projects since Ecuadorian bio-resources were used. Both projects were conducted thanks to UPS's research funds. 

Luis Marcelo López from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana and PhD. Gustavo Suarez, PhD. Luis Javier Cruz, PhD. Robin Zuluaga, PhD. Santiago Betancourt and PhD. Piedad Gañan from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín, which has a cooperation agreement with UPS, cooperated with the research.
Both papers will be indexed in  ISI - Thomson Reuters and SCOPUS.
