Projects to improve production in "El Valle"

The Management of Small and medium sized enterprises Research Group (GIGMP for its acronym in Spanish. Grupo de Investigación de Gestión de Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (GIGMP) presented its community engagement project titled "Community intervention for the development of solidarity based economy ventures in "El Valle". 

The aim is to contribute to the development of ventures that add value to the products created by several organizations in "El Valle" and take advantages of the opportunities in the national and international market regarding sustainable development and gender equality.

Around 78 students from the following undergraduate programs took part in the project: Business administration, accounting, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, communication and environmental engineering; as well as researchers from the Management of Small and medium sized enterprises Research Group.

Students collected information about the socioeconomic characteristics of "El Valle", they were in charge of workshops and training sessions that were aimed at improving people's management skills.

UPS President Javier Herran spoke about the university's commitment with research in this field so that students and professors can continue to lead these type of projects.
