The Abya Yala Publishing House presented the book "Agroclimatología del Ecuador", written by professor and researcher Fredi Portilla, in Cuenca's branch campus. The book is a compilation of data from different weather stations in Ecuador that contributes to crop planning in minimizing risks and improving production in terms of quantity and quality of crops.

Luis Tobar, general academic vice president, congratulated professor Portilla for his book. He said it will be very useful for students, professors and the overall public. Hernan Avilés, director of the biotechnology engineering undergraduate program, said the author very intelligently present his knowledge in agroclimatology.

In his speech, professor Portilla explained that the work addresses several climate factors. Each parameter and analysis which was collected is accompanied by maps, tables and graphs that make their comprehension and assessment more accessible. The book uses official data provided by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Ecuador (INAMHI) which, using a 3D system, includes not only the distance in the plane, but also considers the altitude with a proportionality ratio of 10 to 1.

The book can be used in planning work at the local, regional and national level for the generation of risk prevention policies, territorial planning and as a reference for the application of the various prevailing norms of environmental management and biodiversity.
