The 2018 "Santa CecilIa" singing competition came to an end with 11 finalists from the university's different undergraduate programs in Cuenca. 

Byron Llivicura, automotive engineering student, was the winner of the competition. Josué Abad, a mechatronics students, came in second and Cesar Saquicela, from mechatronics, came in third.

The jury was made up of Bernarda Vallejo (Singer from Cuenca), Eduardo Espinoza (president the students' federation - FEUPS) and Marlon Genovez (singer from Cuenca).

The university's modern music group was in charge of playing the music. The contestants were: Esteban Nugra, Karina Cabrera, Jhony Calle, Israel Vivanco, Jannel Tzerengo, Marco Orellana, Byron Llivicura, Josué Abad,  César Saquicela, Daniel Vallejo, and Marco Solórzano.

This competition has taken place since 1994 and has become a tradition in the university
