Students from the business administration major in our branch campus in Guayaquil held a community engagement project for people with different types of minor intellectual disabilities from the NURTAC Foundation.

The aim of the project was to teach people customer service techniques. "This project was intended to demonstrate that they are capable of correctly carrying out their tasks", said Luis Sanchez.

During the three month course, participants learned about:

- Welcoming people

- Taking orders

- Dispatching orders

- Cleanliness

- Charging people and giving back change

Before starting this project students attended talks, organized by the foundation, regarding disabilities. "Treating people with disabilities was enriching because we also learned things from them, their smiles demonstrated they were thankful", said Mariana Cortez, UPS student.

"These activities are very useful both for students and beneficiaries; it allows students to use what they learn in classrooms", said Elda Florencia, in charge of the NURTAC foundation.
