To support the projects carried out by the UNESCO chairs program in the university, assistive technologies for inclusive education, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is working with Universidad Politecnica Salesiana in the design and creation of inclusive devices for people with disabilities.

Shigeo Sugitani, from the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) is currently in our branch campus in Cuenca to work with the UNESCO program and contribute with ideas and specialized knowledge in electronics and technology.

Shigeo Sugitani said he is interested in working on the inclusive projects the university is currently carrying out, which will improve institutional cooperation.

Vladimir Robles, coordinator of the artificial intelligence and assistive technologies research group (GIIATA for its acronym in Spanish) said the cooperation of JICA is very important since Japanese volunteers share knowledge that will benefit vulnerable groups.
