The director of the electrical engineering major presented his research in an IEEE event

On December 12th, Esteban Inga, UPS Professor, researcher and director of the electronic engineering major at UPS-Quito, took part in the Power and Energy Society (PES) organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE)-Ecuador. 

This academic and technical event covered several topics related to Technological Challenges in the field of Smart Grids. Dr. Damir Novosel, Worldwide President of the Power and Energy Society (PES) presented the topic "Distinguished Lecturer".  Esteban Inga presented his topic titled "El modelo de optimización de la infraestructura de comunicaciones celulares usada en la infraestructura de medición avanzada (AMI)". 

The aim of this topic is to reuse the current cell phone communications infrastructure, including a new user on the web called smart meter, which could be used as a fixed cell phone and reduce the base stations and the interconnection links. 

IEEE is a worldwide research organization concerned with technology innovation that will benefit mankind. IEEE-Ecuador has 900 members from 19 universities.
