Workshops for the university's choir groups

Members of the university's choir groups attended workshops to learn more about the correct use of the body, phonation elements to emit the desired sounds and the improvement of singing and vocal health.

The workshops are taking place in the university's three branches and is being led by Diego Zamora, professional musician and baritone. The topics of the workshop are: general patterns of vocal stimulation, warm-up, vocal tests, location according to the register (soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor or bass), functioning of the phonetic system and its connection to the body, vocal resonators, tuning, vocalization, technique of recognition of vocal tessitura, diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation and breathing strategies, voice warm ups, scales and vocal gymnastics, and others.

The workshops began in our branch campus in Quito, it was attended by 25 students from the choir group which is directed by Karol Caicedo. Zamora believes that in choir music it is important to develop the skill of listening to others and team work in order to transmit feelings.

Caicedo said the workshop improved students' music levels regarding vocal techniques and sound. She thanked Zamora for his openness to share his knowledge.
