This course was attended by Isidro Aguillo, author and editor of the ranking web of universities webometrics (www.webometrics.info) and the director of the Laboratorio de Cibermetría del Centro Superior de Investigación Científica (CSIC), in Spain. "To fulfill its mission of creation and dissemination of knowledge, universities cannot ignore they need to have presence of the web in order to show their work and ability to relate with its context", said Aguillo.

This ranking, which evaluates more than 28000 universities worldwide, ranks Universidad Politecnica Salesiana among the 3000 best universities in the world and is ranked 117th for its presence of the web. The work carried out by the university since 2014 has helped it move up in the ranking, it went from being ranked 6610 to 2993.

Professor Adolfo Cazorla from UPM, director of the course, stats that "the people in charge need to have strategic and global vision in order to make universities successful". Participants met Adolfo Garcia and the case of Camposeven (http://www.camposeven.com/es), a successful Spanish agriculture company which has improved its work thanks to its connection with universities and research.

"The key to improving in the Webometrics ranking is to not think about the ranking as an objective, but as an excellent tool to guide universities in the creation and dissemination of knowledge", said De Santis. He also thanked GESPLAN for the invitation.
