Students and professors from the environmental engineering undergraduate program and the Environment Club, took part in the competition organized by the Municipality of Quito that awarded a prize for environmental sustainability.

The award recognizes companies, institutions, neighborhoods or people that carry out good environmental practices and encourage the active participation of citizens in activities that take care of the environment.

In this regard, the university has carried out several activities such as a reforestation campaign, "Planting the Future", which was organized by the Scouts Foundation of Ecuador and attended by environmental engineering students and professors.

Another activity was the reforestation of "Sur" campus, where students planted several species of trees. "Our campus has many green spaces where we have planted native plants, this helps decrease the carbon footprint", said Karina Pazmiño, director of the environmental engineering undergraduate program.

Carlos Simba, student and coordinator of the Ecology Club, said that everyone should be part of the campaigns for life and encourage good practices in the university community.
