The university's modern dance group from Guayaquil participated in the International Dance Competition "2019 The Dance Worlds" held from the 25th to the 28th of April in Walt Disney World, USA.

Before the competition, the modern dance group was training for about 3 months and preparing choreographies, music and clothing. "This is one of the most important dance competitions in the world and being there is a great responsibility", said Maria de los Angeles Andrade, director of the group.

The group is made up of great artists, not all of them could attend the competition because they had to attend a presentation in Brazil. This year they competed in one of the most important categories of the event: Open Coed Premier Hip Hop where they went up against countries like England, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Germany and Colombia. "The team's performance has been very high, the group has demonstrated they love dancing and dedicated a lot of time to it", said Maria de los Angeles Andrade.

At the end of the competition, the university's dance group ranked 10th in the world which is a great achievement not only for the university but for the country. "Competing against so many countries and ranking among the top ten makes us very proud…", said Christian Lopez, captain of the dance group.

The dance group will also be present in the next Dance World competition. "We are already planning our next participation; we invite new students to join the group and enrich it with different styles", said Andrade.
