Business administration and accounting students will provide taxation and accounting services free of charge in the newly inaugurated accounting office to support natural persons and entrepreneurs in all issues regarding accounting. Students first attended training sessions given by the Internal Revenue Service.

The inauguration was attended by University President Javier Herran, the vice president of the university's branch campus in Quito, Jose Juncosa; the director of the IRS, Andres Ordoñez; the director of the accounting undergraduate program, Freddy Araque; a member of the IRS, Ramiro Cobo; and the coordinator of the university's accounting office, Andres Estupiñán.

Jose Juncosa spoke about the university's three roles: research, teaching and community engagement. "Today we inaugurate a service thanks to an agreement with the IRS, it is an opportunity to learn, deepen knowledge and research that will benefit society", he said. Andres Ordoñez said "the accounting office will enable students to complement their education based on ethics and social responsibility by providing accounting consulting services".

Estupiñan believes the office is an opportunity for students to use in real life what they have learned in class and help create a culture where people know the importance of paying their taxes.
