Thirty two people in our university's branch campus in Quito; students, professors and administrative staff, were awarded Cambridge International Certificates after successfully passing the Cambridge exams. The event was organized by the university's language institute in Quito and was attended by Jose Juncosa, vice president of Quito's branch campus; Adriana Guanuche, coordinator of the language institute; Ronnie Estrella, representative of Cambridge Ecuador and Edgardo Perez, representative of Education First.

Jose Juncosa highlighted the results that have been reached thanks to the agreement between UPS and Cambridge which has allowed students to take Cambridge evaluations according to the common European framework. He also talked about the importance of English in the university, in the classroom and research.

Cristian Castañeda is a person with visual impairment and works in the university's library, in the area used by people with visual disability, he was also awarded a Cambridge certificate by taking the exam through a digital adaptation called Jaws which omitted images, signs and unnecessary charts and allows people with disabilities to learn a language easily.

"In the university there are professors and students who conduct research and provide accessible methods so that all students can have access to information thanks to technological advances", said Castañeda.

Professor Jorge Cardenas said that inclusive education in any area should be adapted to the needs of students of disabilities in order to strengthen academic processes which are important for their human and professional development.
