Risk management in territorial planning

The university held a talk titled "Risk management in territorial planning", organized by the National Service of Risk Management and Emergencies and our university. 

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, welcomed the participants to the event. He spoke about the importance of discussing the implementation of risk management in territorial planning and said the university will always support events like these in order to create awareness on these topics.

The first conference was led by Fernando Pauta, who spoke about Land Use and Management Plan, and its relation with Risk Management. He made a detailed presentation on the subject, highlighting the territorial management model of competition granted by the constitution to decentralized autonomous governments.

The Assistant Secretary General of the National Risk and Emergency Management Service, Leonardo Espinoza, explained the methodological tools for the inclusion of risks, which include a clear vision of prevention, mitigation, response, disaster preparedness, care and responses, all aimed at improving living conditions.

Eloy Alfaro, from the "Rickcharina" Foundation spoke about the principles of risk management, he pointed out the orientation to the protection of people, their assets, livelihoods and production; as well as the protection of their territories, cultural and environmental assets.

Finally, Omar Delgado presented the study conducted along with Universidad del Azuay and other institutions which collected information about the places which are constantly exposed to natural disasters.
