The First International Conference on Smart Technologies, Systems and Applications, which will take place from December 2 to 4, 2019 in the university's branch campus in Quito, has been accredited by the Springer Editorial, which means that the memoirs of the SmartTech conference- IC will be published by this editorial and will be indexed and included in bibliographic databases such as SCOPUS, DBLP, Google Scholar, EI-Compendex, Mathematical Reviews, SCImago, and others.

The papers sent to the SmartTech-IC will be reviewed by Springer under a double blind peer review modality to show impartiality. "Having Springer's endorsement for the conference places us at an international level, in addition to the possibility of publishing the results obtained from the research processes in this editorial," said Fabián Narváez, director of the Biomedicine undergraduate program and coordinator of SmartTech -IC.

Springer is one of the most important publishing companies in the world, it publishes books and journals related to science, technology and medicine in different formats.

Furthermore, this will enable us to create, develop and transfer knowledge in a universal way, by publishing works through citations. The good news for the participating universities is that their science metric indicators will increase, which is essential for their accreditation and positioning. 

Participants who attend will listen to keynote speeches given by experts in different areas of engineering and intelligent systems, as well as participate in workshops and tutorials. In addition to the indexed publication, they will interact with recognized experts in the areas of computer vision, artificial intelligence, intelligent systems for health care, robotics and telecommunications.
