The university's branch campus in Guayaquil held the 3rd Telecommunications Seminar where students from different undergraduate programs who attended where able to learn more about the latest technological and research advances. There were conferences and presentations of projects carried out by the telecommunications club and the Telecommunications regulation and control agency (ARCOTEL for its acronym in Spanish).
 
The inauguration ceremony was presided by Victor Huilcapi, director of the telecommunications engineering undergraduate program; Monica Miranda, tutor of the IEEE branch in Guayaquil; Gino Alvarado, coordinator of the telecommunications club; Pablo Echeverria and Orlando Barcia, coordinators of the telecommunications area; and Kimberlin Wang, student representative of the telecommunications program.
 
"The aim is to update students' knowledge in telecommunications by having talks led by people from different companies", stated Huilcapi. 
 
The topics in the seminar were:
 
- Cybersecurity
 
- Radiofrequency 
 
- Wireless communications
 
- Home automation
 
- Efficient use of the radioelectric spectrum 
 
- 5G cell phone networks, and other topics
 
"Being able to show people that telecommunications is present in all fields, allows them to understand that it is always the backbone of any organization", said Alvarado.
 
The event was attended by students majoring in different fields; "It is great that the university holds these events so we can learn more about our profession and know what we will be able to do in the future", said Ana Paula Bustamante, electronic engineering student.
