Environmental engineering students and professors organized a symposium on health and climate change which was attended by Ricardo Carreño, national director of Environment and Health; Diego Guzman, director of INAMHI; Sara Aucancela, secretary of health and equality; Jorge Villalba, representative of EPMAPS; Luis Calderon, representative of water assemblies; Veronica Mendoza, secretary of SENAGUA; and Karina Pazmiño, director of the environmental engineering undergraduate program.

Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) and the aforementioned institutions signed a commitment that seeks to create awareness for the control of quality water both in rural and urban areas in order to reduce the number of diseases caused by pollution.

UPS was awarded a certificate for its contribution to academia, science, human and professional education on topics related to climate change, safe water, waste, circular economy and pollution.

Pazmiño said "We are at a turning point where the really important thing is that knowledge about this aspect is disseminated to reduce the ecological footprint of each person." She also spoke about the work that UPS, together with the organizing bodies, do to open research and inclusion opportunities for a better human and environmental society.

Pietro Graziani, from the National Circular Economy Forum in Ecuador, said that the fight against climate change in the country and the search for new ways of producing and consuming under the concept of a circular economy is urgent "This term is based on the principle of that in nature nothing should be wasted, everything is transformed, "he said.
