Professors – researchers from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) and Universidad del Azuay (UDA) are the winners of ERASMUS+ Higher Education – International Capacity Building with their project "EduTech – technological assistance to access virtual higher education". The project was chosen over 800 other proposals which were presented in order to obtain financing from the European Union.

Paola Ingavelez, UPS professor, said the project started over a year ago with the support from Universidad de Alcalá, Spain, UDA and other universities in order improve accessibility to Virtual Higher Education.

"We are proud of this accomplishment considering there were over 800 projects worldwide, it's a challenge for any research group that manages to win a project like this one to develop other innovative projects and ventures related to this area", she said.

For Monica Rodas, UDA professor, being part of the project "is a great opportunity for professors and students to conduct research and learn, also to create awareness about the need of labor and educational inclusion and improve the lives of people with disabilities."

The project will have a 3 year duration, in Latin America it will be coordinated by UPS and the UNESCO chairs program Assistive Technologies for inclusive education. The aim of the project is to alleviate the problem of technological accessibility in higher education institutions (HEIS) in our region due to the limited resources they have to implement strategies to assist diversity, especially disabilities.

EduTech seeks to improve Accessible Virtual Education through the construction of management skills by establishing a Technology Accessibility Unit in participating HEIs
