Training courses for entrepreneurs

The business administration undergraduate program carried out the course titled "Administrative tools for entrepreneurs"; a community engagement project carried out with the support of the ministry of economic and social inclusion (MIES for its acronym in Spanish).

The project was part of the course "Escuela de Inclusión Económica Fase II: fortalecimiento administrativo de gestión", in which students led training sessions while being supervised by professors. The topics covered in this 30 hour course were customer service, marketing, finance and basic accounting.

The closing ceremony of the course was attended by Hilda Pincay Martinez, director of the south district of MIES; Monica Marmol, business administration professor in charge of community engagement; Yeni Ordoñez and Javier Carrera, professors – tutors; people who benefited from the project and UPS students.

The Project was held thanks to the agreement signed between UPS and MIES. The participants of the course are people who receive financial assistance from the government(welfare), they must attend these training coursed and acquire certain skills that will allow them to have access to loans from MIES and improve their business ventures.

"I thank UPS for providing these activities aimed at improving the country's productivity. It is very important that participants understand that it is never too late to learn, this project gives them the opportunity to generate resources, create employment opportunities and not only depend on the government's assistance", said Pincay. 

Ingrid Villafuerte, beneficiary of this Project, said "I am very thankful with Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS), I started my own business and it is going very well thanks to the teachings provided by students who were really patient teaching us. I encourage everyone to continue taking the course".

Javier Carrera, professor – tutor of the project, said that the aim of the course was to strengthen people's skills and the fact that people were willing attend the course demonstrates their wish to improve their lives. 

Angélica Santana, Alexandra Castro and Elizabeth Villamarín were awarded recognitions for their attendance and perseverance during the 40 hour course.
