Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) went up 323 positions in the Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities, which evaluates the performance and productivity of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on the Internet worldwide. This last ranking was published in the month of July.

UPS currently ranks 2373 worldwide, and is ranked number 5 among the HEIs in Ecuador. This result enabled UPS to enter the top 200 in Latin America and the Caribbean, it ranks 139th in the region.

The ranking web is based on the rating of four indicators that assess different aspects of university work and its projection within virtual environments. The most relevant indicator in the ranking this edition is IMPACT, which measures the visibility of the university portal on the Internet; it ranked 4489th worldwide.

Regarding the OPENING indicator, which measures the number of citations in Google Scholar of the 100 best researchers associated with UPS, we ranked 2204th, which means we went up 372 positions internationally.

Regarding the EXCELLENCE indicator, which analyzes the quality and acceptance of scientific production, UPS went up 248 positions and ranks 2988th. While in the PRESENCE indicator, the university improved 20 positions, it ranked 43rd in the world and remains within the best universities.

This tool assesses the usability, relevance and web management of UPS, which is the result of joint work between several departments and the scientific production generated by our teachers and researchers, which represents the commitment of the entire university community.
