Pablo Piña, Javier Mogrovejo and Rafael Larrea, students majoring in mechatronics, installed an illumination system with solar panels in the community of Checa in the district of Biblian, in the province of Cañar, as part of a community engagement project titled "Design and Installation of the Solar Led Lighting System as part of the reconstruction plan of the community sports field".

This is an important contribution made by students and it was the first of five lighting systems using solar panels and the installation of poles in different sports areas in different areas of Biblian.

The project was supported by the Decentralized Autonomous Government, and guided by professor Diego Chacón and Edy Ayala, director of the Mechatronics program. The community was really thankful since this project will benefit the population of this sector.
