Leonardo Carrera, a professional photographer and student majoring in mechanics in our branch campus in Quito, took part in the program titled "Lab Dream", which is led by the United Nations and UNICEF. The program is also supported by ConQuito and "Asamblea de Jovenes para la sostenibilidad".

Leonardo Carrera presented his Project to create a support center to help children and teenagers from Chillogallo. This idea began during the situation of Covid 19 which has affected children and teenagers due to the lack of opportunities and inclusion in their communities.

The aim of the center is to have volunteers to teach mathematics, science, social studies and other subjects, as well as provide workshops to parents. "The center will help children and teenagers to continue studying, and will train parents on ways to help them find a job or create their own business; there will be workshops on bakery, hair styling and manufacturing clothing", he stated.

Lab Dream seeks to strengthen young people's capacities and talents by promoting their participation to create innovative, sustainable and inclusive solutions for their communities. The program included virtual training, project advice, technical support and financing for the implementation of the project. "Our project was broadcast in the media, especially on television; it will receive support from public and private organizations to make it a reality," said Carrera.

He invited students to take part in community engagement activities. "As UPS students we are invited to build a better society". He called on the public and private sectors, civil society, academia and the media to support this initiative.

His team is made up by: Doménica Salcedo, Sharon Parra, Elizabeth Yangicela and Leonardo Carrera.
