Universities plan to restart on campus classes

Presidents of the four higher education institutions in Cuenca held a meeting with the president of the Higher Education Council and the coordinator of the ministry of education in order to suggest a safe way for students and professors to return to on campus classes starting in September. 

The strategies in the plan are aimed at improving university premises that may also be applicable in other education institutions.

The components of the plan have been identified considering the national and global learning of essential care and protection of people, which will contribute to revitalize social and economic factors in the country.

The plan includes a number of demands that must be met so that the university's claim can be accepted, some of the demands are: mass vaccination of community members with the first dose by the month of September. Application of the protocol for the period of essential care and self-protection to minimize the risk of contagion.

Establish permanent meetings between the universities and the Ministry of Health. The document was signed by the four university presidents: María Augusta Hermida Palacios from Universidad de Cuenca; Juan Cárdenas Tapia, Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, Francisco Salgado Arteaga, Universidad del Azuay, Enrique Pozo Cabrera Universidad Catolica de Cuenca. As well as, the President of the Higher Education Council, Catalina Vélez Verdugo and Julio Molina Vásquez, Coordinator of the Ministry of Public Health as witnesses of honor.
