Agreement between the Embassy of France and the Unesco Chair's program in Cuenca

The UNESCO chairs program assistive technologies for inclusive education at UPS signed a cooperation agreement with the Embassy of France in Ecuador which will enable UNESCO to continue conducting research, carrying out projects, building assistive robots, all in benefit of people with disabilities.

The meeting was attended by Jean Baptiste Chauvin, ambassador of France; Juan Cardenas, UPS president; Carmen Moreno, consul in the city of Cuenca; Antoine Lissorgues, director of the French Alliance; Fernando Pesantez, general vice president of UPS; Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca; and Jeffrey Zuñiga, attorney. 

Juan Cardenas welcomed everyone, spoke about some of the university's characteristics and its goals of higher education. He thanked the ambassador for taking UPS into account for the signing of this agreement which will directly benefit 420 children and young people and 1200 other persons, indirectly.

The French ambassador praised the university and said he is pleased to sign an agreement with a prestigious higher education institution such as UPS. 

After signing the agreement, in company of the university officials, he visited the laboratories and met the people who work with the UNESCO Chair's program. He also talked to several children, young people and teachers from some institutions that are part of the Chair's program project.
