196 professors from all majors at UPS-Quito were trained on the use of blogs, academic networks and research. The training sessions were held from the 23rd to the 25th of September in El Giron and Sur campus; in the sessions they learned about the works and experiences of UPS professors in the field of research.

The instructors were: Esteban Inga, professor, researcher and director of electrical engineering, and Wilson Verdugo from JASOFT, company which is in charge of maintenance service for teachers' blogs. 

Some of the topics covered during the training sessions were: free software for practical use, research techniques in regarding virtual libraries, management of academic networks such as Google Scholar , Research Gate and Orcid,  and the steps for opening and using blogs.

Andrea De Santis, the university's Web Editor, attended the sessions to talk to professors about the importance of communicating activities on the web and the advantages of having a blog, which supports the professor's academic and research activities and facilitates interaction with the overall public.

UPS-Quito Vice President Jose Juncosa welcomed the participants and said that the next training sessions are planned for the months of February and March 2016.
