UPS signed a cooperation agreement with the National Electoral Council

UPS and the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) signed an interinstitutional cooperation agreement which will generate training on democracy for professors, administrative staff and students at the university. Additionally, they will discuss proposals aimed at having people in society who know about their political rights and the ways they can encourage democracy and participation in the 2017 electoral process. 

UPS-Cuenca Vice President Cesar Vasquez and CNE President Juan Pablo Pozo signed the agreement during the launch of the book "Democracias", which is on the relationship between the state and society. The book was written by Milton Paredes.

The UPS-Cuenca Vice President said it is really important to sign this type of agreements which will allow the university to be trained in democracy. "Our university motto is to educate good Christians and honest citizens, and therefore they should recognize good from bad based on knowledge" he said. 

The CNE President was also pleased with the agreement which represents a link between academia and government institutions. He said that CNE is committed to changing by having permanent training so that it could be more efficient in its activities, such as strengthening democracy and enhancing its electoral practices
