UPS President received the highest Academic acknowledgment at UPM

On January 27, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM) officials awarded UPS President Father Javier Herran the PhD degree in Project Planning for Rural Development and Sustainable Management. 

During the graduation ceremony Father Javier Herran spoke on behalf of all the graduates and received the PhD "Cum Laude", which is the highest academic recognition at the university. This award by given to him by Dr. Carlos Conde Lázaro, UPM President.

Father Javier's thesis titled Modelo de integración del conocimiento-acción a través del proyecto de comunicación para el desarrollo: 25 años de experiencia en comunidades indígenas andinas en Ecuador"can be found in UPS's repository. The thesis was directed by Dr. Adolfo Cazorla Ph.D , agronomy engineering faculty at UPM and director of the Grupo GESPLAN

During his trip to Europe, Father Javier visited some of the best universities in the continent and met with professors from SAPIENZA-Universitá di Roma  and Università del Salento, from Italy, to talk about UPS's research model.

He also met with UPM President and several professors and took part in a round table to talk about "Research in the university: challenges and realities".
He said that research should be the center of university management, where students are the ones who generate knowledge while being guided by professors who favor the learning process. "The desire of UPS is to reach an Ecosystem of Innovation through a transversal management based on the strength of the educational community"
