In 2015, the university's language institutes implemented the Cambridge System for learning English thanks to an agreement signed between UPS and Cambreidge University. The system gives students the opportunity to get an international accreditation.

Therefore, last semester, students were given the opportunity to get an international certificate by taking exams such as KET (Basic User), PET (Independent User) and FCE (Higher Intermediate). The exams assess people's English level according to the Common European Framework.

The preparation course was held in the university's language institute in Quito; it was a three week course for two hours from Monday to Friday. Students did not pay for this preparation course.

The aim of implementing the Cambridge system is that English teachers get a B2 certificate by passing the FCE exam and in the not too distant future a C1 certificate. This process began with a placement test  and based on those results teachers began a training course with foreign professors from Education First. The teachers who took the exam passed and now have a B2 level
