Members of several research groups (GIE, GIIATA and GIIRA) from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana's branch in Cuenca presented 10 research projects during the 2016 Conference IEEE Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing ROPEC that was held in Ixtapa, Mexico.

The conference was attended by professionals, researchers and students from several institutions in order to discuss their points of view, present new ideas and advances in the areas of power systems, electronics, control and computing.

The projects were:

  • The Energy Research Group (GIE) presented: "Inverter resonant control by modified PSWM and trapezoidal modulation for induction cooking" and "Design and Testing of Toroidal Coil for Induction Water Heater"
  • The Artificial intellegence and technologies research group (GIIATA) presented: "Braille Teaching Electronic Prototype".  "Characterization of a Horizontal Vaporization Boiler using energy of a pair of friction Steel-Bronze". "Robotic assistant for support in speech therapy for children with cerebral palsy". "A low-cost wearable support system for visually disabled people". "Intelligent Assistant to Control Home Power Network".
  •  The robotics and automation research group (GIIRA) presented: "Design and Simulation of a Fuzzy Controller for vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) Systems". "Analysis of Convex Adaptive Structures and Algorithms for Smart Antennas"

The research projects will be published and indexed to IEEE Xplore and Scopus. The papers were written by professors Marco Carpio, Walter Orozco, Diego Chacón, Luis Serpa, Mario Ochoa, Eduardo Pinos, Luis González and Ana Parra
