The automotive mechanical engineering undergraduate program, from the university's branch campus in Cuenca, held a special ceremony in the university coliseum to present the Formula SAE vehicle that will compete in Silverstone, England from 19th to the 23rd July. The team is made up by 28 people, students and professors, who will travel to England for the competition.

The event was presided by UPS president Javier Herran and attended by other university officials and special guests. The director of the automotive engineering school, Cristian Garcia, welcomed all the attendees and thanked everyone who has supported the entire process of making this vehicle; he congratulated the students who make up the Formula SAE Team.

Father Javier Herran said "these young students are people like you who have shown perseverance and dedication to carry out this project and build this car. Thanks to teamwork, today they can present this vehicle"

Professor Jonathan Pozo spoke about the history of this project and told people how it began back in 2015. The aim of having students design a vehicle for a competition is that they acquire further knowledge and experience and of course develop their skills in the field of automotive engineering.

UPS student Esteban Mendez explained the development of the car and said that during two years 28 students from different undergraduate programs in Cuenca worked on the design and construction of the vehicle.

Professor Pozo said that this is the first electric race car built by university students in Ecuador. Each part was created according to the demands of the organizers and the materials that were used guarantee the resistance and the right weight of the vehicle. He said the entire team is very excited to travel to England and hopes to get good results for Universidad Politecnica Salesiana.

Finally, they unveiled the race car, a black car with UPS's logo packed with students hopes and dreams.
