The engineering undergraduate programs in the university's branch campus of Guayaquil received a significant donation from Sumelec S.A Company. The donation will be used in educational activities in institutions with few economic resources so that children and young students can learn about this field.

The donation includes:

- 4 soft starters for large motors for the practice in the start and stop sequences of industrial processes.

- 4.000 consumable elements such as voltmeters, ammeters, analog frequency meters of boards, bulbs and fuses.

"These donations to UPS are part of the gratitude we have for the contribution that several students have made to the company," said James Rodríguez, general manager of Sumelec S.A. Ecuador.

This equipment will be employed in the several community involvement projects carried out by UPS, for instance in the Penitentiary of Guayas. "With the knowledge acquired in the classrooms, students will be able to carry out the development of modules to later help in training sessions for detainees", said Gary Ampuño, Director of the Electricity program.
