The university's branch campus in Quito hosted the 8th University Modern Dance Festival with the participation of 10 dance groups from universities in Quito and Ibarra. The festival was held in the coliseum of "El Giron" campus and attended by the university community and external public.

Representatives from Universidad de las Américas (UDLA), Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN), Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN) de Ibarra and UPS danced to choreographies of salsa, bachata, merengue, Arabian music and others.

UDLA danced to urban music, contemporary dance and Flamenco, EPN danced to urban music, contemporary and Arabian music, UTN to ball room dancing and contemporary dance, finally UPS dance to urban music and ballroom dancing; the university's dance group is led by Johana Franco. 

This festival has been held for 8 consecutive years; the aim is to encourage art among young people and have them show their skills.
