In order for students to get hands on practice of what they learn in class, first year students from the automotive engineering undergraduate program in the university's branch campus in Guayaquil held an exhibition of 15 prototypes of land and water vehicles which were created during their manufacturing processes class.

The presentations were attended by the university's officials and students from different programs.

"These events help students prepare for their professional life by allowing them to put into practice everything they learn in class" said Renato Fierro, director of the automotive engineering program in Guayaquil.

After the formal presentation of the prototypes, students and the overall public took part in races with bicycles, tricycles, quads and cars created by students. "Here students learn by doing, I ask all professors and students to continue this process", said Andres Bayolo, vice president of UPS's branch campus in Guayaquil.

For Ariel Arreaga, who is majoring in automotive engineering, teamwork and the efficient use of tools enabled the creation of projects that can be implemented in society. "A quad can be used to take a ride with family and friends; this event helped us strengthen all our knowledge".
