The university's modern dance group in Guayaquil organized a presentation in tribute to their colleague Joel Calderon; the presentation was held during the "Cultural Wednesday" program and was attended by professors, students and the overall public.

Maria de los Angeles Andrade, the instructor of the dance group, said "this is a different Cultural Wednesday program because it is dedicated to a young man who gave all he had for art and dance and despite not being with us any longer his spirit will live in our hearts forever."

Other dance groups such as: Élite, Electric Dance and Bailarte Studio also performed during this event. "The cultural Wednesday program is an event that seeks to entertain people, this time the event was not only for the people who attended the performance but for our friend who is no longer with us", said Michelee Garcia, member of the modern dance group. 

The modern dance group is currently preparing to take part in an international competition on April 23rd in Orlando, Florida. "Today we have a reason to be better, this was one of Joel's dreams and we will not disappoint him", said Christian Lopez, coordinator of the group.
