The university's branch campus in Guayaquil held the 2nd Robotics Competition titled Killtronic 2.0. High schools and higher education institutions from Ecuador and other countries attended the competition. The competition was organized by the electronics and automation undergraduate program, the robotics club and the IEEE student branch.

The following institutions attended the competition: Escuela Superior Politécnica del Ejercito (ESPE), Unidad educativa particular politécnico (COPOL), Escuela Superior Politécnica del Chimborazo (ESPOCH), Instituto tecnológico Simón Bolívar, Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG), FUNBOTIC (COLOMBIA), Steel Nerves Team, Universidad Politécnica Salesiana's branch campuses in Guayaquil and Quito and Colegio Fragata Guayas.

The aim of this competition is that students apply what they learn in class and build technological prototypes.

"This activity helps us create new opportunities in the technological world not only for our students but for the community in general. It contributes to the fourth industrial revolution", said Victor Huilcapi, director of the electronics and automation engineering program.
