Universidad Politecnica Salesiana and St. Ambrose University (USA) signed a cooperation agreement that will enable students and professors to create new technological devices (assistive robots and tools) and apps that will support children with disabilities and / or language disorders.

The process to sign the agreement started one year ago when professor David Krupke and a group of students of the "Master of Speech- Language Pathology Program" visited our university to learn about the research carried out in the UNESCO chairs program Assistive Technologies for inclusive education.

Students from the College of Health and Human Services, from St. Ambrose University, were also there for the signing of the agreement to learn about the research projects that students from the computing, electronic engineering and mechatronics programs are carrying out for children, young people and adults.

The first project was presented by Luis Lima; an interactive app for phonoarticular rehabilitation exercises. The mobile device is connected to a small robotic platform that provides kinesthetic stimulus for children.

The second project was presented by Boris Cabrera. It is the first social network that provides support in the study and development of therapeutic intervention for professionals in the area of language therapy.

Finally, Veronica Velasquez and Kevin Mosquera, students of electronics engineering and mechatronics respectively, presented a robot to  support rehabilitation of children with dyslalia.
