The book "ICTS in education for people with disabilities" provides the university community several ways on how to use information and communication technologies as a resource that supports education for people with disabilities. The book was presented on April 11th in our branch campus in Quito.

The information presented in the book is the result of the research project titled "Estudio de la aplicabilidad del enfoque ecológico funcional en la educación de estudiantes con discapacidad en el Ecuador", which was conducted by members of the Inclusive Education Research Group.

The presentation was attended by Fernando Pesantez, academic vice president; Jose Juncosa, vice president of our branch campus in Quito; Rafael Sanchez, director of the group CREATICA; Miriam Gallegos, coordinator of the book; and Pablo Laverde, student of computer engineering. Miriam Gallegos spoke about everyone's cooperation to write the book and the feasibility of the study. "The content can be easily understood by everyone, it is not only meant to be used as a tool at the university", she said.

The book covers four areas: the first is related to the analysis of public policies, the second presents cases of families that participate in education, the third analyzes the process of transition to adulthood, and the fourth is about the use of technology in the classroom.

Sanchez, a member of CREATICA and a professor at Universidad de Cádiz, Spain, highlighted the fact that the authors belong to different social groups: people with disabilities, engineers, educators, therapists, and others. "They have connected their thoughts to write a book about experiences that the whole world deserves to know about", he said.

Laverde said that the book shows the importance of inclusive education, where ICTs are seen as the most innovative solution that will change the world one step at a time. He thanked Patsy Prieto, director of the undergraduate program, professors, classmates and his mother, who have supported him in different ways to help him reach professional goals.
