UPS professor Andrés Leonardo Ortega, who is a member of the telecommunications research group at UPS, attended the 2015 IEEE 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation (APCAP) and presented his paper titled "Antenna Performance Evaluation Through the Lobular Radiation Pattern".

The aim of Andres Ortega's paper is to determine the performance percentage of an antenna when there is a radio transmission within a telecommunications system. The project analyzes the frequency spectrum of a radio signal of a modulated frequency (FM),which due to extremely high noise levels, it directly affects the equipment sending the signals and hence is directly related to the quality service that radio systems provide.

Currently, in our context, radio broadcasting uses antennas without any technical specifications and their maintenance is not done accordingly. In his paper, Professor Andres Ortega proposes solutions for the maintenance and the validation of the performance of any type of communications antenna, according to their radiation patterns.

This conference was held in the Island of Bali in Indonesia and it gathered the best researchers in the world so that they could share their information regarding the progress of antenna technologies and radio broadcasting.
